The Blossom in Bloom

"And here I thought I would be a tulip,"
Said the pink blossom, shaking petals and leaves
"Thought it was possible...then I grew up."
Have you ever seen a flower when it grieves?

"Mr. Blossom" I said, "don't be sullen,
You still are a wonderful little sight."
He looked at me as if I'd just stolen
The sun forever to bury him in night

He puffed out his buds and replied dryly
"You can't comprehend the life of a flower."
"But I know of dead dreams," I said shyly.
He shook his stem; I began to cower

Seeing my face, his regret was apparent
He sighed, "Atleast your petals aren't all spent."
