Sonnet - In Class

Sonnet - In Class

Like an ant I sit down in the third row
Spread my papers and keep my head lowered
Pretend not to care, pretend he won't know
Whatever you do, don't utter a word

At last he appears, gray eyes and glasses
Not looking at me, he won't look at me
My chest throbs and shudders but... it passes
He knows my sorrow, doesn't want to see

The other students sit around but they
Don't know how rapid my chest is beating
How emotions are cracking in - disarray!
Mocked as I sit by fancies long fleeting

So I listen, can't distinguish a word
So I look up.. I won't see through eyes blurred
